Instant Pot Fresh Tomato Basil Sauce turns out so much faster then making it on the stove top.
In the past, I’ve always made this in a pot on the stove and cooked it for hours. Now, with my Instant Pot, I can cook it for 10 minutes and it’s wonderful! Amazing … I absolutely love the Instant Pot. Do you have one yet? If not, it will change the way that you cook. If you don’t have one but still want to make Fresh Tomato Basil Sauce, you can find the recipe here on my site. This sauce is delicious and so fresh with the basil and fresh tomatoes. I used basil from my herb garden and chop up my tomatoes in the food processor to speed up the process. We served it over regular pasta and I cooked up some sweet Italian sausage on the side. Of course this sauce is wonderful in recipes like Lasagna or chicken parm.

Yum
I had a ton of cherry and grape tomatoes so that’s what I used. I followed all directions except I put the tomatoes skin and all through the food processor before adding to the instant pot. Cooked for 25 minutes. Came out very good
I made this with Roma tomatoes. I followed the recipe except I cut freshly picked romas in half cooked them in a pan for ten minutes to release the seed Joel for flavor. Then I used a Victoria model 250 food strainer. The sauce came out of the instant pot tasting amazing but a little thin so I used a small amount of corn starch and water to thicken it. Whole family said by far the best spaghetti sauce they have ever had.
Why roma instead of regular ones?
Actually decided to use raw tomatoes –see how lazy I am?
But I saved your recipe for use in the winter when local ones aren’t available. I enjoy reading your recipes. Thanks!
Nice! Did it turn out well?
I’m lazy too, so I looked for fresh tomato with skins left on to make tomato sauce. Thanks Donna!
You are probably right James and I’m sure that it would be great that way too. I’m simply lazy haha 🙂
I think that it is common to remove the seeds and skins by running the sauce through a food mill. I would do this in two steps to include that removal.
Have you tried making tomato sauce in the Instant Pot yet?
