Oven Roasted Tri Tip

Serves: 6
  • 2½ – 3 pound Tri Tip Roast, trimmed of excess fat
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 2 tablespoons sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Brush steak (front and back) with olive oil, you most likely will not use all of it. Discard remaining olive oil.
  3. In a cup or small bowl, mix together sea salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  4. Rub all over steak; front, back and sides.
  5. Using a sharp knife, poke holes into the top of the roast, about 1 inch apart. Stuff with garlic slices.
  6. Place tri-tip roast on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Place roast in the oven, uncovered for 30 to 35 minutes. (until temperature registers 135 degrees F). Remove from the oven and cover with foil. Let meat stand and rest for 15 minutes.
  7. Slice thinly and serve.
